Pay & Benefits

  • Total Pay: $25-$35. Base Pay of $10.10/hr Tips of $10-20/hr
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, ST and LT Disability and Life Insurance available
  • 401(k) Plan eligibility after 1 year
  • PTO: Accrue up to 40 hours during years 1 and 2, 80 hours after year 3 and 120 hours after year 4.
  • 50% Employee Discount (applies to other Merriman’s and Handcrafted Restaurants as well)

Job Functions

  • As the Server Assistant, you are to assist the servers with table upkeep. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
  • Fill water glasses and upkeep once guests are seated
  • Respond to guest requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner
  • Ensure knowledge of food, menu and restaurant promotions and specials
  • Reset tables once quests have left for every turn
  • Make, serve, and upkeep coffee and tea
  • Refill ice containers when needed
  • Side work duties, upkeep of the restaurant
  • Performs other duties as assigned and needed by management
  • Learn and memorize all table numbers and seatpositions
  • Additional duties as necessary and assigned

Ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:

  • One to two years’ experience in a restaurant operation.
  • High school or equivalent education.
  • Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and written. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language sufficient to understand menus, special promotions, record orders, answer the phone and communicate with coworkers and guests.
  • Basic knowledge of food presentation, preparation and handling.
  • Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to continuously walk and or stand, move up and down multiple flights of stairs and transport items (such as glassware, dishes, heated plates, beverages and chairs) weighing up to 50 lbs. continuously, throughout the duration of a possible 8 hour shift on a regular basis or for the duration of your shift
  • Requires bending, stretching, twisting, stooping, carrying, lifting and reaching above the shoulder in excess to 50 lbs with your body and arms and or being able to push or pull 100 lbs.
  • Ability to work under variable temperatures and noise levels
  • Near Vision - The ability to hear and see details at close range.
  • Willingness to maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available)
  • Ability to carry and balance dishware and glassware in the course of service
  • Ability to deliver the highest standards of service in a busy and fast paced environment
  • TB Clearance or ability to obtain both prior to employment
  • Ability to complete side work duties such as taking out the trash, stocking glassware, sweeping restaurant, cleaning glass surfaces, move furniture including but not limited to chairs and tables and polishing all table setups
  • Able to work in all inclement weather such as in the sun, wind and or rain
  • Ability to arrive punctual to work along side having a regular and reliable attendance and being able to read and work a flexible schedule which includes nights, weekends, and holidays
